KILLEEN TOURNAMENT

    KILLEEN DAILY HERALD

    Dear Editor:
I was in Killeen this weekend (10-14-06) for a girls softball tournament, the Killeen StormTober Fest Tournament. The tournament was outstanding and the tournament director and umpires were excellent. Our team, The Believers won the under 16 division of the tournament and we really enjoyed being back.

Another reason we were glad to return to Killeen was because of this being the fifteenth anniversary of the Luby's Shooting. Today I continue to pray for healing and restoration in Killeen, Texas as well as other areas throughout the world.

We promotoed an International Day of Prayer for Healing on the first anniversary date of the shootings, and we had churches and Christian businesses around the world praying for the healing of Killeen. Todd Martin wrote the article about our reaching out to the world for prayer, and we were there when Vice President Dan Quayle visited the Memorial Site. We saw him fall to his knees and pray for the victims as he laid the dozen white carnations down. People were touched worldwide as they witnessed how the Power of God touched Killeen through the Power of Prayer.

We also asked friends and believers worldwide to join with us in 2002 to Pray for the Healing of New York City on the first anniversary date of the September 11, 2001 attack, and New York City, like Killeen, did recover.

I am now asking for your assistance in praying for Healing and Restoration in Korea. The sanctions we are imposing on North Korea might be effective, but I believe that God is wanting so much more for the Koreas. South Korea is a nation of praying Believers who want reconciliation, so pray with us in claiming God's Healing, Restoration and Blessing for Korea in this critical time. Through the Power of Prayer we can see the Power of God unleashed once again.

Thank you for joining us in prayer. May God bless and protect you.

    J. Craig Gandy

    To The Believers
15 years ago we had just moved to Killeen, Texas after the birth of our daughter Jamie Gandy. She sat in her baby car seat, beside me and my other young children Jonathan and Jennifer waiting for my children Robert and Christina to be let out of their Killeen middle school. Sirens went off everywhere. And the school would not release the children from their rooms. Just 3 blocks from the school the worst mass killing had just occured. 23 people were killed and another 20 wounded at Luby's cafeteria. I was scared to even cross the street to get our mail, my children were afraid to go anywhere. Our town was gripped with fear and a great sadness. A year later Criag sent out flyers to military towns, churches and businesses aroung the world to pray for healing. You can read more by clicking the link. Killeen Sing Fest.

One of the reasons we choose Killeen StormTober Fest as a place for our tournament is because the 15th anniversary of the massacre is the Monday following the weekend of the tournament. We want to continue to pray for healing for all those who are suffering loss from terrible acts of other people.

    In God's Love,
    Mauri Gandy
